Taking good photos is key to making sales on ModTod. Here are a few suggestions to help you get your best shots.
So Fresh, So Clean
Clean your lens to get rid of fingerprints, dust and oil that can lead to cloudy photos. The underside of a clean t-shirt will do the trick.
Keep it Simple
Backgrounds in white, grey, or a light pattern will give your photos a clean look. Lay items on a bedsheet, wooden table, or tiled floor, or hang them from a hook on a white, painted or brick wall.
Seek Natural Light
Taking photos outdoors is great but that’s not always possible. If indoors is your best option, shoot near a window with indirect light. Avoid using your flash as it can make your photos appear yellow or cast dark shadows.
Most smartphones autofocus, but if you want to sharpen the focus on a specific area, tap that spot on your camera’s screen.
Showcase the items you want to sell using creative angles or capture small details like textures, embroidery, or buttons up close. Get close to the item you’re photographing rather than using your zoom, or take photos from a natural distance then crop them to avoid grainy or blurry photos.
Consider taking your photos with the 1:1 image setting on. Using the 1:1 image setting means the width and height of your photos will be the same lengths and the photo will be a square. A square image will make it easy to share your photos on Instagram, Facebook, and other social platforms.
